Augustine H. Kim

Augustine H. Kim earned his Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University in 1988 and his Juris Doctor from NYU Law School in 1991. After practicing at large firms in New York City for five years, he returned to Harvard University to obtain his Master's Degree.

Subsequently, Mr. Kim moved to the Washinton DC Metropolitan area and worked as in-house counsel for a large locally-based insurance company. Later, Mr. Kim became in-house counsel for the nation's largest provider of senior housing and care. During his practice, Mr. Kim has represented major corporations and lending institutions. As in-house counsel, Mr. Kim's responsibilites included advising his company in various aspects of the law. Mr. Kim worked closely with the: Human Resources, Information Technology, Sales, Marketing, and Operations departments to ensure regulatory compliance and to assist in numerous major corporate transactions including real estate sales.

Through his achievements and in-depth experience, Mr. Kim has the ability to serve clients in many different facets of the law. Within his current practice, Mr. Kim's areas of emphasis include Bankruptcy, Business and Corporate Law, Drafting and Negotiating Contracts, Civil Litigation, Elder Law, Healthcare Law, Lease Agreements, and Wills, Trust and Estate Planning. Mr. Kim is licensed to practice law in New York and the District of Columbia and is fluent in Korean.

Joseph T. Nah

Joseph T. Nah earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance at the University of Virginia, where he also earned a second major in Anthropology. Mr. Nah earned his Juris Doctor from the Washington College of Law, American University where he was a member of the Law Review and graduated Cum Laude.

Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Nah served as the Law Clerk to the Honorable Barry R. Poretz at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Subsequently, Mr. Nah practiced in Washington, DC for major international law firms in the areas of transportation and international law. Years later, Mr. Nah became Senior Counsel to the fifth largest airline in the U.S. As in-house counsel, Mr. Nah worked closely with the Advertising, E-Commerce, International, and Marketing departments to ensure compliance with U.S., foreign, and international laws. Mr. Nah also guided various expansion projects in the establishment of foreign branches and operations.

Mr. Nah's areas of emphasis include Administrative Law, Business Law, Contracts, Complex Civil Litigation, International Law, Labor & Employment, and Transportation Law. Mr. Nah is licensed to practice in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. He is a certified mediator and is fluent in Korean.

Sun E. Choi

Sun E. Choi earned her Bachelor of Science in Commerce at the University of Virginia and her Juris Doctor at the Washington College of Law, American University.

Upon graduation from law school, Ms. Choi served as the Law Clerk to the Honorable Eugene N. Hamilton, Chief Judge of the Superior Court, Washington D.C. Following her clerkship, Ms. Choi entered into private practice to several Washington DC area firms specializing in Family Law, Criminal Defense, and Civil Litigation.

Years later, Ms. Choi became a Prosecutor for the State's Attorney's Office for Frederick County, Maryland. After several years, Ms. Choi re-entered private practice as the principal founder of the Metropolitan Law Group.

Ms. Choi's current area of emphasis include Criminal Defense, Family Law, Personal Injury, and Civil Litigation to State and Federal Courts. Ms. Choi is licensed to practice in Maryland, the District of Columbia, is currently applying to practice in Virginia and is fluent in Korean.

Allison R. Fortmann

Allison R. Fortmann earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs at the University of Colorado and her Juris Doctor at the University of Baltimore.

During law school, Ms. Fortmann was the recipient of the John and Frances Angelos Scholarship as well as the Harford County Law Spouses Scholarship. In addition, as a law student, Ms. Fortmann was an intern to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice, Executive Office for Immigration Review.

Upon graduation from law school, Ms. Fortmann served as the Law Clerk to the Honorable Mary Ann Stepler as well as to the Honorable Theresa M. Adams at the Circuit Court for Frederick County.

Ms. Fortmann's current areas of emphasis include Domestic Relations Law, Serious Traffic Matters, MVA Hearings and is a certified Best Interest Attorney.  Ms. Fortmann is licensed to practice in Maryland, is a certified mediator and is fluent in French. 

Anthony R. Champ

Anthony R. Champ earned his Bachelor of Science in Public Administration at George Mason University in Virginia and his Juris Doctor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law in California.  While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Mr. Champ worked as a law clerk for Fannie Mae.  During law school, Mr. Champ worked as a law clerk in a creditor's rights law firm in San Diego. He also served as the Academic Chair for the Thomas Jefferson School of Law Student Bar Association.

Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Champ moved back to Virginia and began practice with the Metropolitan Law Group, L.L.C. Mr. Champ's current areas of emphasis include Business and Corporate Law, Bankruptcy, Criminal Defense and General Civil Litigation.  Mr. Champ is licensed to practice in Virginia.

Gloria H. Lee

Gloria H. Lee earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia. She then earned her Juris Doctor from American University, at the Washington College of Law. During law school, Ms. Lee served as a Dean's Fellow instructing law students on legal research, analysis and writing.

Ms. Lee served as an intern with the Department of Justice in the Civil Rights Division. She then clerked for a trade association representing companies all over the United States. After Ms. Lee graduated from law school, she became assistant general counsel with a major trade association and worked extensively with member companies to represent their interests before the regulatory, judicial and legislative branches of the government. Ms. Lee's areas of practice include Appeals, Administrative Law, Complex Civil Litigation, Landlord/Tenant Law, Secured Transactions and Domestic Law.

Sharon S. Cowell

Sharon S. Cowell earned her Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy, graduating Cum Laude from Southern Methodist University. Ms. Cowell then earned her Juris Doctor, graduating Cum Laude, the top 25% of her class, from American University, the Washington College of Law. While at law school, Ms. Cowell was a student attorney at the International Human Rights Law Clinic. She was also the senior staff editor of the American University Journal of Gender, Social Policy & the Law. Ms. Cowell was also the senior articles editor for the Human Rights Brief.

After graduating from law school, Ms. Cowell served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Frederick C. Wright, III, Chief Judge and then for the Honorable Donald E. Beachley, Juvenile Division Judge in Washington County, Maryland. Ms. Cowell then worked as an Assistant Public Defender in Maryland. She continued to practice criminal law, honing in her trial practice skills and became a prosecutor for the Office of the State's Attorney for Frederick County, Maryland. With Ms. Cowell's extensive criminal law and trial background, she joined the Metropolitan Law Group with an emphasis in felony and misdemeanor criminal defense as well as Juvenile Law. Ms. Cowell is licensed to practice in Maryland, eligible to waive into the District of Columbia and is fluent in Spanish.
